Serving on the Altar
At St. Stephen's, there are many ways that you can offer your services, one of them being a member of the altar party or altar guild. An altar party member can be a crucifer (carrying the cross, helping to administer communion), a lector (reading the appointed lessons for that week), or an usher (handing out bulletins, collecting and presenting offerings). If one feels better behind the scenes, the altar guild is the perfect way to serve. Before services, altar guild members will prepare the altar for communion, as well as making sure the altar is decorated with flowers and the appropriate linens.
